About the event
Diane Flanagan — When you think of Girl Scouts you probably think first about cookies. You may also think about crafts and camp outs. But Girl Scouts are a lot more than that. First and foremost it is a leadership organization. Scouts learn how to make smart decisions, act fairly and responsibly, and let the team shine as they work together. But they also make new friends, have fun, and give back to their community. Diane has an interesting background. She got an engineering degree from Vanderbilt and then spent 25 years in the automotive industry, much of that time in El Paso and Mexico City. As her sons got older she started thinking about the next phase of her life. She put together a resume, saw an ad for a new CEO to manage the merger of several Girl Scout Councils in West Texas. She got the job and stayed there for 10 years. In 2018 she heard about a CEO opening at Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina and she has been here since. Diane is a Daniel Island resident.
